• Aqua Hedionda Lagoon

South of the Carlsbad State Beach is the Aqua Hedionda Lagoon which, unlike most lagoons permits recreational and commercial use. The lagoon manages to sustain a healthy tidal body with wetlands supporting several endangered species.

• Batiquitos Lagoon

The 610 acre Batiquitos Lagoon adjacent to Carlsbad State Beach is home to many plants birds and fish, and has a 2 mile long nature trail.

• The "Coaster" Train

Just two blocks from the resort is the “Coaster Train” depot, offering service from Los Angeles to San Diego and many interesting points in between. For a great sightseeing trip, take the “Coaster” to San Diego, with stops at Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Old Town. A trolley runs between the Old Town and San Diego stations to many popular sites such as the Gas Lamp district and SeaPort Village.
